Hong Kong Land, working with Ogilvy Hong Kong
September – December 2017
WHAT THE CLIENT ASKED FOR:
After working with Hong Kong Land on a video for WF Central and Inspiring Young Minds, they wished to develop a new video the shopping centre. The concept they were basing he style on was that of a traditional Chinese puppet show. The story was two minutes long, and told the story of Pu Lun and Pu Dong and their experiences of the world expo held at WF Central.
We were given the following references – traditional in feel like the first, yet with more modern fluid movements for the character animation.
WHAT WE DELIVERED:
Creating characters and sets from existing illustrations, we took care of the end to end post-production including
- Look Dev & Motion Tests
- 3 Characters
- Character Animation
Based on the illustrations, we gave everything an ink on canvas feel. However, it was important the characters were seen as very cute, so we still kept it quite cartoony. Using a 2.5D apprach, we created something that appeared 2d yet still had texture and depth. You can take a look around the models below:
And here is the process step by step – from storyboard, to final character animation through stages of modelling, rendering, lighting and post.
