Aside from the very obvious controversies of last night’s 94th Academy Awards, the Animation Twitter world has some thoughts and feelings about how the evening handles the animation industry.

Recently, we were asked to give a talk about our experience with animating in realtime at The View conference in Turin - exciting stuff! Unfortunately the continuing pandemic meant we weren’t flying over for pasta - instead we headed down to a local beach and recorded a casual and frank discussion about directing animation in real time and what that means.

Hello and welcome to week NINE. Things are getting really close now as animated scenes are going through the final stage of magic and coming out as finished shots.

Welcome back and here we go on week seven. To recap, we’ve been working on an internally produced, animated short film, based on a children’s book by local writer and illustrator Maia Walczack.

After a busy week for service work last week, we are back on our animated short film Wylder, all guns blazing. We’ve tied up a couple of big projects and can focus some more of our time on working through both the shot list and asset list.

In our own time, we have been putting in some hours to really get to grips with Unreal Engine, a game engine that is blowing the lid off the industry. We spotted this a few years ago, and were waiting for it to be ready to also use for animation and the time is finally right.
